Film Adaptations From Fantastic Family Books

Numerous favorite kids movies were initially adored kids books. Various kids books that have been around for a very long time have been made into movies at different times in the past. Most of the movies can stand on their own and most of the books were already classics. How faithfully do the films storylines follow the books?

In 2008, "The Spiderwick Chronicles" by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi was made into a motion picture. There are five books in the book sequence but only one show has been finished so far. It follows the venture of a family of kids who find a outlandish book in their new home that leads them into a world filled with trolls and goblins, elves, dwarves and other creatures.

The favorite children's book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl was in the beginning in print in 1964. It has been adapted into two well-liked films, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" in 1971, starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and from 2005 "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.

In 1952, the author, E.B. White brought us one of the most darling family tales of all times with "Charlotte's Web". The book has remained in print continuously since its first publication. An cartoon movie of "Charlotte's Web" was released in 1973. In December 2006, a live action film version was released. Both movies followed the original story faithfully.

Dr. Seuss is one of the most beloved kids writers of all time. A few of his books have been made into wonderful films. "Horton Hears a Who" came out in 2008 with Jim Carrey as the voice of Horton. This is an cartoon feature film that follows the storyline of the book practically exactly.

"The Grinch Who Stole Christmas", a different Seuss classic was made into an animated rendering that showed on Television every holiday season. That adaptation followed the book. But in the year 2000 a big budget film of "The Grinch" came out with Jim Carrey as the Grinch and there were many different scenes and events. "The Cat In The Hat", also from Seuss was released in 2003 and it too, had additional scenes and events.

One of the maximum grossing film series of all time is from the kids books on Harry Potter authored by J.K. Rowling. At this point six of the seven books have been made into movies with a proposal to make two movies from the 7th installment for a total of 8 movies. This series is the 2nd uppermost grossing series in times past behind James Bond.

Family books oftentimes make wonderful movies that the entire family unit can take pleasure in. Watching the movies and reading the books as a family unit can make for some fantastic family times and wonderful children's memories. - 26221
